I see the opportunity to be an Advisory Neighborhood Commissioner as an extension of the life I have dedicated in service to others.
Service has been away of life for me for as long as I can remember. Some of my earliest childhood memories are of me selling straw dolls and wooden flutes in the Straw Market in down town Nassau. I spent my Saturdays in the market with my cousin Dot, not because I had to but because I wanted to. I wanted to be of service to my cousin as she built a business literally with her own to hands, I wanted to be of service to the tourist that came to visit my adoptive home and I wanted to be of service to my family contributing what I could for our good. This desire to be of service, led me to a career in the hospitality industry were I worked for over fifteen years. Now I get to serve our city in the Office of the Mayor. I see the opportunity to be an Advisory Neighborhood Commissioner as an extension of the life I have dedicated in service to others. Over the next couple of months I will be sharing my vision of service and what that looks like practically for you... my neighbors.
